Viracon, the leading single-source glass fabricator in the United States, is adding another stamp of approval to its product line. The Owatonna, Minnesota – based company has earned a prestigious Kitemark certification for its insulated glazing products specified in the United Kingdom.
Originally created as a British standards mark, the Kitemark today has become one of the world’s leading symbols of integrity and quality. To earn Kitemark certification, a product must pass rigorous testing and meet strict quality benchmarks.
“Viracon has worked hard to build a reputation for quality and customer satisfaction in the United States,” says Mike Smith, architectural products manager for Viracon in Europe.
“As we increasingly work on projects in the global marketplace, we want to demonstrate our continued commitment to our United Kingdom customers. Pursing a Kitemark certification was a valuable way to do so.”
To earn the Kitemark, Viracon passed assessments to ensure products conformed to the highest industry standards and reviews of its quality management system. As a Kitemark licensee, the company is subject to continued monitoring, including routine product testing and assessment of quality controls.
“Only businesses that can demonstrate a commitment to delivering professional standards are awarded the Kitemark and it is a credit to your business that you have achieved Kitemark certification,” said Paul Parkins, Scheme Manager of Product Certification for the Kitemark program in a letter to Viracon.
The Kitemark is a mark of quality and safety, and an increasing number of architects are specifying Kitemark products in major public and commercial building projects. In addition to the UK market, the Kitemark also garners notice and respect from architects and building professionals around the world.
Viracon’s Kitemark certification became effective January 3, 2008.
