Yondr Group, in partnership with JK Land Holdings, has commenced construction of its second 48MW hyperscale data centre in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia, US.

This development comes just two months after the energisation of the group’s first 48MW facility in the same county.

The new project, which is part of the overarching 96MW two-building campus, aims to provide enhanced cloud capacity.

Construction commenced on the company's first data centre in October 2022.

Yondr is a developer, owner-operator, and service provider of hyperscale data centres while JK Land Holdings seeks land for sale, lease, or development, including for data centres.

JK Land Holdings CEO and JK Moving Services CEO Chuck Kuhn said: “We’re thrilled to be part of this phase two groundbreaking project that not only enhances global data centre infrastructure but also fosters sustainable growth.

“Partnering with Yondr Group aligns perfectly with our commitment to innovation and responsible development, reflecting our shared values and dedication to driving positive change in the communities we serve.”

The construction project brings a host of socioeconomic advantages to Loudoun County, including job creation, talent development, and a lasting social value legacy.

Yondr's multidisciplinary in-house expertise has shaped the data centre’s waterless design, which eliminates the need for local water resources, promoting sustainable operations.

The company recently announced its ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for scope 1 and 2 by 2030.

Yondr design and construction COO Eanna Murphy said: “Our commitment to investing $2bn in future-ready data centre infrastructure in the American region further cements our expansion, as we deliver a legacy of supporting digital resiliency, digital transformation and the continued adoption of AI and other rapid-growth technologies.”
