YIT has signed a general contract for the construction of the second phase of the office, trade, and logistics project, Urban HUB, for SBA Urban in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The approximately €10m ($10.88m) contract will be recorded in YIT's order book for the first quarter of this year.
Construction commenced at the beginning of the year and is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
Real estate development and investment company SBA Urban awarded YIT the contract for the first phase of this project last May.
The second phase of the Urban HUB Kaunas project will offer approximately 6,000m² of leasable space.
The new development will feature a one-storey structure with a mezzanine and an underground parking facility, accommodating 142 vehicles, including 66 electric car spaces.
The IKI shopping centre, reported as the largest tenant, will occupy 1,700m² within Urban HUB, YIT noted.
The project is aiming for an A++ energy-efficiency rating and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM) In-Use Excellent certification.
YIT Infrastructure EVP Aleksi Laine said: “Our long experience in managing regional contracts has established our operations throughout Finland. We are delighted that our clients trust our experience in the contract areas that have now been secured.
“The maintenance of roads, streets and areas is a year-round service which ensures the functionality and the preservation of the value of our living environment.”
