Winvic Construction has completed the Newland Lincoln project in the UK, the second under the four-year Lincolnshire County Council highways framework contract, before the scheduled completion date in November this year.

The second project, which began in April 2024, involved extensive resurfacing and signal improvements in the Lincolnshire area.

The construction works focused on key areas, including Newland, between Carholme Road and Mint Street, and extended to sections of Wigford Way, Mint Lane, and Lucy Tower Street.

The early completion in late September was the result of Winvic's commitment to minimise disruption and maximise benefits for local communities, businesses, and road users.

Winvic's role in this project included the improvement of various highway assets such as drainage, footways, kerbs, surfacing, traffic signals, and road markings.

Specific upgrades carried out during the project included the replacement and upgrade of signal equipment at the Carholme Road and Lucy Tower Street junction, the construction of new traffic islands, and the replacement of footways.

Footpath replacements and new carriageway surfacing were also carried out in Newland.

The project had more than 4,500 tonnes (t) of road-building materials used, 275m of highway drainage repaired, and 30 new traffic signals installed at key junctions.

Additionally, the project included more than a mile of new footway construction, 1.2km of new kerbing, and the installation of 575ft of traffic signal wires and ducting.

Winvic Civils and Infrastructure managing director Rob Cook said: “Balancing a fast-paced programme with the safety of our workforce and the public, while remaining considerate of nearby communities, businesses, and road users was a priority.

“Winvic will continue to work hard to ensure works on other framework projects, such as Dysart Road in Grantham, are progressed quickly and efficiently to avoid disruption whilst delivering long-lasting infrastructure improvements across Lincolnshire.”

Lincolnshire County Council awarded Winvic the 'General Works' Lot of the Highways Framework in April 2022. The General Works Lot contract aims to enhance infrastructure assets across Lincolnshire.

Looking ahead, Winvic has already begun work on the third project under the Lincolnshire County Council highways framework contract, which involves a five-month reconstruction contract to reconstruct Dysart Road in Grantham in August 2024.
