Winvic Construction has been appointed by GLP to construct a new industrial facility, MPN 761, at Magna Park in Lutterworth, UK.
This partnership marks the first collaboration between the two companies and features what is said to be the largest speculative unit GLP has developed to date.
The project marks a milestone for Winvic, as it represents the construction of 100 million square feet of industrial space.
MPN 761 is also set to be the 64th industrial building that Winvic has been contracted to deliver with net-zero requirements.
GLP senior construction manager Peter Baird said: “We are pleased to be partnering with Winvic to deliver MPN 761 as we embark upon the next important phase of development at Magna Park North.”
The facility is designed to achieve a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Outstanding rating and energy performance certificate A.
It is 100% photovoltaic-ready and WELL Building Standard compliant, enabling future occupants to manage their environmental impact alongside their operations.
The building's design includes an 18m clear height to haunch.
It consists of a 716,662ft² warehouse, an 8,202ft² undercroft warehouse, a 1,615ft² plant deck, and 34,667ft² of office space spread across three storeys and two transport offices.
Winvic will fit out the offices to Cat A standards.
Construction began with enabling earthworks and service installations in July this year, with the erection of the steel frame set to commence later this year.
The project is expected to be completed and handed over to GLP in June 2025.
Winvic Construction Industrial, Distribution and Logistics managing director Danny Nelson said: “MPN 761 has become a special project for three reasons; it marks Winvic’s construction of 100 million square foot of industrial space, it’s GLP’s largest ever speculative unit and it has brought the start of a new and exciting contractor-client relationship.”
In addition, Winvic will collaborate with GLP on several social value activities to benefit the local community and businesses around Magna Park.
Earlier this year, Winvic commenced work on the third project awarded under the Lincolnshire County Council highways framework in the UK.
