Willmott Dixon has been appointed to construct a new £29 ($44.57m) residential development for Westminster City Council in London, UK.
The project, named Westmead, will include 65 affordable homes as part of the council's Fairer Westminster strategy.
Child Graddon Lewis Architects (CGL) architect David Kay said: “The design-led scheme navigates complex site levels and supports the retention of mature trees, whilst taking architectural references from the surrounding conservation areas and late 20th-century neighbouring housing schemes.
“The simplicity of form is complemented by a rich, confident and high-quality material palette. Further, improvements to the surrounding existing green space will provide benefits for the whole community.”
To be located on Tavistock Road, the project will rise to six storeys and is designed to meet the AECB CarbonLite New Build standard, a benchmark for energy and carbon efficiency.
It will incorporate solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, exhaust air heat pumps, and measures to ensure stringent airtightness.
Additionally, the development will enhance local green spaces and introduce 121 new cycle spaces.
This contract is a continuation of Dixon's ongoing relationship with Westminster City Council, following the completion of 112 homes on 300 Harrow Road in the city.
Dixon announced the handover of the Harrow Road project in December last year.
The company has partnered with CGL Architects in the past for the Harrow Road and Dudley House projects and is once again collaborating with it for the latest project.

Work is scheduled to commence this month and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
This month, Dixon also announced that the Cross Keys Homes’ housing project in Peterborough, UK, topped out, marking a major construction milestone.
