Willmott Dixon has secured the contract to construct the new £18m ($23.13m) Pendle Police Station for Lancashire Constabulary in the UK.

This contract marks an addition to the company’s portfolio of similar projects.

Located on Carr Road in Nelson, the new facility is intended to replace the older police stations in Colne and Nelson.

The development aims to futureproof police infrastructure in the region and provide a modern working environment for officers to serve their community effectively.

Lancashire police and crime commissioner Andrew Snowden said: “The new facility is part of a wider investment in policing infrastructure across the Lancashire region.

“This latest development will ensure that the Pendle district is well-equipped to deal with the challenges of modern policing and will provide a vital resource for local officers in the years to come.”

Pendle Police Station will accommodate various policing teams, including response and neighbourhood teams, investigation segments, and more.

It will also feature a front counter, ensuring continued public access to police services in Pendle.

The move aligns with Snowden's pledge to maintain a police station open to the public in every borough.

Construction of the three-storey police station and its accompanying multistorey car park was procured through the Procure Partnerships framework.

The new station is expected to be operational by late 2025.

Lancashire Constabulary East Division superintendent Derry Crorken said: “This is a milestone moment for policing in Pendle - one which we feel will ultimately help us to provide a better quality of service to the public.

“Once complete, the new building will see a massive improvement to our working environment, providing vital support to officers and staff who deliver frontline services to keep the area safe.”

The development follows the company’s selection for the £55m redevelopment of the existing Hertfordshire Constabulary headquarters in Welwyn Garden City last month.
