Property company Wihlborgs has announced plans to construct a 3,600m² warehouse, production, and office facility for BPC Instruments, a technology company specialising in analytical instruments for bioenergy, in Lund, Sweden.

Located at the Tomaten 1 property in Lund’s emerging Hasslanda business district, the new building aims to achieve Miljobyggnad Gold certification.

The facility’s lease term spans 15 years, with occupancy by BPC Instruments expected in mid-2026.

The new facility is expected to offer flexibility for future uses and be equipped with modern technical installations to optimise operations continuously.

The construction is part of the overarching development seen in Hasslanda, a new business district that has grown around the new E22 motorway junction.

Hasslanda is strategically positioned to the south of Gastelyckan and north of Staffanstorp's municipal border.

BPC Instruments will be located next to Inpac, a contract manufacturer whose facility was completed by Wihlborgs in early 2024.

Additionally, Wihlborgs is constructing a facility for NOTE Lund, an electronics company, at the nearby Stora Råby 32:22 property.

The investment by Wihlborgs in the new facility for BPC Instruments totals Skr79m ($7.1m), which includes the land value of Skr11m.

BPC Instruments CEO Jing Liu said: “We are grateful for our continued partnership with Wihlborgs, which enables our expansion. Their ability to understand and meet our needs means we can look forward to moving into premises that are well suited to our operations going forward.”

Wihlborgs CEO Ulrika Hallengren added: “We are pleased to deepen our partnership with BPC Instruments and that the company is continuing its development in Lund. The new facilities show that there is substantial demand for modern production facilities in combination with offices in Lund. It is positive both for us and for the city as a whole that we can meet this demand.

“This is also in line with Wihlborgs’ cluster strategy, which entails grouping several properties in the same geographical area. This enables us to offer efficient property management as well as opportunities for tenants with new needs.”

Last November, Malmö University selected a new design concept for the construction of its new building Amphitrite 1, in Sweden, with Wihlborgs being assigned the design and planning work.
