The Government of Western Australia has issued a tender to design and build family-friendly mountain bike trails at Yellagonga Regional Park in Perth.

This construction project is hoped to bring mountain biking to the centre of Perth’s northern suburbs.

The project, which is a part of the national Cook Government's investment, will include more parking spaces, bathrooms, and bike shelters.

The state government has also committed $8.5m investment in this development.

Other developments planned for Yellagonga Regional Park comprise a new adventure playground and boardwalk at the Luisini Winery on the eastern bank of Lake Goollelal, expanded dual-use walkways, and upgraded parking at Perry’s Paddock.

New limestone paths connecting Duffy House to the park’s route network are being built, with more tenders anticipated to be issued shortly.

Additional planting and restoration work will be completed around the lake in collaboration with the Friends of Yellagonga Regional Park community organisation.

The City of Wanneroo will also build an observation platform and boardwalk to improve access to Lake Joondalup.

Western Australia Environment Minister Reece Whitby said: “The Cook Government is committed to preserving and enhancing Yellagonga Regional Park so that it becomes ‘the Kings Park of the north’.

“These improvements will make the park more accessible to a broader range of visitors and allow more people to enjoy its natural beauty."
