Vistry Group has announced partnerships with Abri and Clarion Housing Association to develop 1,900 new homes across two sites in the UK.

The projects align with Vistry's strategy to focus on high-growth, capital-light partnerships.

The first project involves a 50:50 joint venture (JV) with housing provider Abri to construct 1,500 new homes at the Ford Airfield site in Arundel.

This development will see half of the homes presold as affordable housing.

The site will also include community infrastructure such as a local centre, commercial and retail space, a primary school, and a 60-bed care home.

Abri group CEO Gary Orr said: “By working in a joint venture with Vistry, we’ve unlocked the full potential of the site, making sure it delivers the best outcomes for the community.

“We want to play our role in tackling the nation’s housing crisis and Ford Airfield will contribute significantly to Abri’s commitment to build 10,000 homes by 2030, whilst we will reinvest any surplus to improve existing homes and services, invest in communities and continue to build more affordable housing.”

In addition, Vistry will build 400 homes at Hatchfield Farm in Newmarket.

Clarion Housing Association, which is working with Vistry's Countryside Partnerships brand for this project, has prepurchased 200 of these homes for affordable housing.

The remaining homes will be sold on the open market under the Bovis Homes and Linden Homes brands, which are part of Vistry.

Vistry CEO Greg Fitzgerald said: “These two sites support our strategy of delivering a significant number of mixed-tenure homes with our affordable housing partners.

“We have well-established, long-term relationships with Abri and Clarion and are pleased that at both sites we are providing additional affordable housing in excess of our Section 106 obligations.”

This month, Countryside Partnerships and the London Borough of Brent commenced construction on the NWCC development in London, UK.
