Vistry Group has partnered with Man Group's Community Housing team to construct 146 houses and apartments in Wellingborough, UK.

The project at Glenvale Park will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom maisonettes and homes ranging from two to four bedrooms.

The development has already received full planning permission, and Vistry began construction work last month.

The first phase of the development will offer 75 homes, with options for social rent and shared ownership, supported by Homes England.

This initiative is part of a larger sustainable urban extension scheme at Glenvale Park, which will eventually comprise 3,000 homes, with 675 earmarked as affordable housing.

The 7.8-acre site is located to the north of Wellingborough and will also host a 25,000m² business park.

The park will include retail amenities, a communal hub, two primary schools, a nursery, and extensive parkland.

Vistry's new homes are designed to exceed current building regulation requirements, targeting a minimum energy performance certificate rating of B and maximising the use of timber.

Man GPM Community Housing managing director and head Shamez Alibhai said: “Our aim is to help address the UK’s housing crisis by creating affordable, high-quality and sustainable homes.”

Vistry has taken over from Ilke to transform the modular house designs into timber-framed homes, using modern construction methods.

The timber frame panels, which will be produced at the Vistry Works factory in Leicestershire, are expected to reduce carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions by 14,460kg per home.

Vistry South East Midlands managing director Andy Reynolds said: “We are thrilled to be working with Man Group for the first time on this exciting project. Our use of modern methods of construction will reduce the carbon footprint of these homes whilst allowing them to be built at speed to meet the housing needs of the community.

“We're excited to once again be a part of Wellingborough’s growth and to be entrusted with the build of these much-needed new homes which will create a thriving and sustainable community.”

Vistry Group recently reported a revenue of £1.72bn ($2.25bn) for the first half of 2024.
