Viega to build new manufacturing plant in Ohio

The business serves it clients via distribution centres throughout Nevada and Pennsylvania.

Global plumbing and heating, ventilation and air condition solutions manufacturer Viega is set to construct a new manufacturing plant in Shalersville, Ohio, US.

With an investment of approximately $200m, the plant will be built on 80 acres of land in Shalersville.

This development project marks the continuation of Viega’s expansion in the US.

The facility intends to aid the rising demand for Viega’s ProPress and MegaPress products.

In compliance with the company's sustainability goals, the plant will be operated with a focus on minimising the carbon emissions of imports by manufacturing more items in the US.

Viega CEO and president Markus Brettschneider said: “This new facility in Ohio, along with recent investments in our existing Kansas facility, further supports our growing demand and is part of Viega’s plan to increase North American production.

“We look forward to expanding our presence in this part of the country to further support our customers.”

Viega has also announced investments in new equipment for its production and distribution facility in McPherson, Kansas.

The business also serves its clients and partners through distribution centres in Reno, Nevada, and Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with further expansion planned in North America for 2024 and 2025.

Viega Manufacturing head Marki Huston said: “Our goal is to build more sustainable manufacturing processes and continue developing tomorrow’s workforce.

"With production scheduled to begin in early 2025, we expect to start hiring for positions as soon as January 2024, bringing more than 68 new jobs to the area over the next few years.”

Viega collaborated with local, regional and state organisations on tax credit support and with Team NEO, JobsOhio, the Portage Development Board and the Shalersville-Streetsboro Joint Economic Development District for choosing the 80-acre site.

South-East Asia Construction Market Dynamics

Per GlobalData analysis, the South-East Asia construction industry in 2023 is dominated by Indonesia, though the country will see a slowdown compared to 2022 due to elevated building material prices, weak commercial property demand, high interest rates and a softening of external demand. The construction industry in the Philippines is estimated to register a AAGR of 7.2% between 2024 and 2027, supported by the government’s focus on the development of the country’s rail and road transport and energy infrastructure.
