Veolia has appointed a consortium comprising Eiffage Génie Civil and Chantiers Modernes Construction for three water treatment plants in the Île-de-France region.

Chantiers Modernes is a subsidiary of VINCI Construction.

The civil engineering design-and-build contract is valued at more than €400m ($435.03m) and the amount will be shared equally between the two parties.

The latest contract is part of a concession awarded to Veolia by the Syndicat des Eaux d’Île-de-France for managing domestic public drinking water services.

It comprises the design and construction of building frameworks for the new low-pressure reverse osmosis (LPRO) treatment plants.

It also includes the upgrading of the power supply systems for water treatment plants in Neuilly-sur-Marne and Choisy-le-Roi.

It further comprises converting the Méry-sur-Oise plant to incorporate the aforementioned LPRO technology.

The project involves demolition work, the creation of special foundations, and the construction of ancillary buildings under a general contracting arrangement.

The LPRO streams will include membrane buildings, associated reactive buildings, a Multiflo decantation facility for wastewater treatment, and their respective connection networks and infrastructure.

Veolia has awarded the overall design process to its subsidiary OTV, with project management support provided by Egis Eau.

Within the design-and-build consortium, architectural services for the facilities in Choisy-le-Roi and Neuilly-sur-Marne will be handled by LELLI Architectes and MVRDV, respectively.

Last month, Eiffage Group, in collaboration with MT Højgaard Danmark, was selected to undertake the construction of the Valby cloudburst tunnel in Denmark.
