Veidekke's subsidiary Grande Entreprenør has signed a contract with Berg Eiendom Røra for a new chicken slaughterhouse for Berika in Trøndelag, Norway.
The design-and-build contract is valued at approximately Nkr135m ($12.87m), excluding VAT.
The planned facility will be in the Leinsmyra industrial area of Røra, within Inderøy Municipality.
Spanning an estimated 6,800m², the slaughterhouse will be spread across two to three storeys.
It is designed to accommodate poultry slaughter and processing, a goods-in area for live animals, and a goods-out area for finished products.
The building will also feature a dedicated administration wing.
Grande Entreprenør general manager Morten Hynne said: “We are very pleased that this project is finally being realised.
“This will result in significant production on our books in both 2024 and 2025, which in turn contributes to securing the jobs of our 200 employees and our local partners in a difficult time for the industry.”
The building aims to achieve Miljöbyggnad Gold certification and net-zero carbon dioxide designation.
The design phase is anticipated to commence this month, with construction expected to begin by mid-July.
The project is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
