Veidekke's Danish subsidiary Hoffmann has secured a Dkr580m ($83.01m) contract with Square Copenhagen for the renovation and reconstruction of the Helmerhus building at Copenhagen City Hall Square, Denmark.
Square Copenhagen is part of German real estate company Proteus.
The project is being developed by Hoffmann alongside VITA VITA enginiører, Henning Larsen Architects, Emcon, and AM Alpha.
Proteus CEO Jürgen Büllesbach said: “We look forward to restoring and transforming a historic Copenhagen landmark with respect for the city - together with Hoffmann and our partners.”
Originally constructed in 1900, Helmerhus is set to undergo a reconstruction that will see the building offer 15,000m² of office space.
It will also include 1,200m² of space dedicated to residential units and 3,000m² allocated for retail and food and beverage.
Hoffmann CEO Torben Bjørk said: “We are excited to be carrying out the transformation of Helmerhus. Located at City Hall Square in the heart of Copenhagen, this is a highly prestigious project which follows in the footsteps of other successful projects Hoffmann has carried out in inner Copenhagen, such as 25Hours Hotel Copenhagen, Tivoli Corner and CitizenM Copenhagen Hotel.”
This contract has been included in Hoffman's first-quarter 2024 order book.
Last month, Veidekke entered an agreement with GC Rieber Eiendom to construct an environmentally certified commercial building, named Fenderen, in Bergen, Norway.
The collaborative design-and-build contract, excluding VAT, is valued at Nkr241m.
