Scandinavian contractor Veidekke has been awarded a design-and-build contract to construct 96 apartments as part of the Mathildetunet residential project in Skårerbyen, Norway.
Commissioned by Selvaag Bolig, the contract is valued at Nkr260m ($23.78m), excluding VAT.
The Mathildetunet residential project in total is anticipated to include 196 new homes.
According to the latest contract, Veidekke will be responsible for erecting three buildings, ranging from four to seven storeys, which will encircle a shared outdoor space.
This area will include landscaped gardens and facilities for play and recreation for the community.
The 96 apartments will range in size from 39m² to 108m² and feature large windows and high ceilings.
Below ground, the project will include a garage with parking spaces, storage units, and technical facilities.
Additionally, the project will provide residents access to multiple communal areas within Mathildetunet and the broader neighbourhood.
Veidekke department head Morten Barreth said: “Mathildetunet will be the seventh construction stage in Skårerbyen and Veidekke’s first commission in the extensive Lørenskog project.
“The contract attracted several bidders, so we are very pleased to have won the competition for the commission. We really appreciate the confidence shown in us and are looking forward to extending the good partnership we have with Selvaag Bolig from other ongoing residential projects.”
Construction work has commenced, with the project's completion and handover anticipated for the second half (H2) of 2025.
Veidekke has included the contract in its order book for the first quarter of this year.
This contract comes after housing developer OBOS forged an agreement with Veidekke to develop the third phase of the Teieparken project in Tønsberg, Norway.
