Nordr has selected Veidekke for the second construction stage of the Grønvoll quarter development at Helsfyr in Oslo, Norway, a commission valued at Nkr385m ($34.53m) excluding VAT.
Veidekke will serve as the design and build contractor for the development.
The new phase includes the construction of 139 apartments within a high-rise building spanning ten to 14 storeys, alongside a subterranean level dedicated to storage, technical facilities, and parking for vehicles and bicycles.
The quarter's design includes a shared rooftop terrace connected via a footbridge to a neighbouring building's larger terrace, as well as a communal garden secluded from the external environment.
Grønvoll’s prime location is adjacent to Fyrstikktorget, renowned for its public transport connections.
Work on the site is set to commence promptly, with the completion and handover of the project anticipated by mid-2027.
Veidekke Bygg Oslo department manager Kaare Gilhus said: “We really appreciate being able to extend the good partnership in the project after we were commissioned with the first construction stage in August.
“This is much-needed new housing in Oslo at a time when far too few housing projects are being initiated. We are of course also very pleased to build more homes for one of our best customers and achieve continuity in the project.”
Nordr Norge CEO Henning Wettre Hanevold said: “We are incredibly proud that the Grønvoll quarter has become one of the most popular residential projects in the capital and that the second construction stage remains the best-selling building project in Norway so far this year.
“Now we are delighted with the sales start we had recently, where we sold over half of the apartments that were put up for sale.”
This recent contract for the second stage will be recorded in Veidekke's fourth-quarter order book.
In June, Nordr Norge and Veidekke’s contract was concluded for the complete Grønvoll quarter development. The total contract is valued at approximately Nkr1.3bn excluding VAT.
