UK-based water company United Utilities has announced an additional 18 detailed design-and-build partners to assist in delivering its environmental programme in North West England.

This programme is contingent upon approval of the company's business plan.

The company has submitted a £13.7bn ($17.41bn) investment plan for the 2025-2030 period to the country's water services regulation authority, Ofwat.

C2V, a joint venture between Jacobs and VolkerStevin, was appointed as the construction delivery partner alongside seven others earlier this month.

United Utilities capital delivery director Jane Simpson said: “We’re really pleased to have chosen 18 great partners who will complement the seven partners that we have already announced to help deliver our ambitious plans and transform our infrastructure across the region.

“For the first time we’re engaging directly with these partners who will do the work, rather than through large management contractors. This will allow us to be more agile and ensures we have a mix of partners able to deliver at speed, whilst securing the best value for our customers.”

AE Yates, Barhale, Bethell, Murphy, Eric Wright Civils, Forkers, Network Plus, Sapphire, United Living, and Ward and Burke will collaborate with United Utilities on network infrastructure improvements.

Meanwhile, Avove, bWGM, Eric Wright Water, Lagan Infrastructure, Ross-Shire, Glanua, Mott MacDonald Bentley, and Stonbury are set to work on enhancing process treatment facilities.

These projects, valued at approximately £2.75bn, aim to reduce storm overflow activations and upgrade water and wastewater treatment plants throughout the region.
