Turner Construction Company has announced the topping out of the Press Blocks project in Portland, Oregon, US, marking the completion of vertical construction on the mixed-use development.

The development includes a 23-storey residential tower and an office building that has been constructed utilising a combination of heavy timber, steel, and concrete.

The residential tower, covering an area of 322,000ft², will contain 341 housing units to address the growing demand for sustainable housing in Portland.

An adjoining office building spanning 48,000ft² will feature modern design and material innovation.

The project, which also includes four levels of underground parking, is aiming to secure Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification to emphasise environmental sustainability.

Upon its planned completion in late 2025, the Press Blocks development will add modern residential and office spaces to the Goose Hollow neighbourhood, focusing on sustainability and community-oriented design.

Turner Construction Company project executive Stacy Ramakers said: “Press Blocks will bring much-needed sustainable housing and innovative office spaces to Portland. We are deeply grateful to Security Properties, Mithun, and the skilled trades workers who have contributed to this milestone. We look forward to seeing the finished project come to life.”

Turner Construction, based in New York, US, is a construction services company handling projects across various market segments.

Earlier this month, the company announced the topping out of McGivney Tower in Adams Neurosciences Center at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael Campus.

Additionally, in September 2024, the company, along with partners Gensler and TEF, broke ground on the Terminal 3 West Modernization project at San Francisco International Airport.

The work involves a 200,000ft² expansion and 650,000ft²renovation of Terminal 3.
