United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Transworld Group, in collaboration with DP World’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) has announced its plans to construct a new distribution centre in Jafza, UAE.

Both companies have signed an agreement for this development project, which marks a significant capacity expansion for Transworld in the region.

The facility, spanning more than 50,000m², will include both dry and temperature-controlled storage solutions, with Jafza developing the property.

This development is a strategic move to enhance Transworld’s logistics infrastructure within the Free Zone, nearly doubling its operational capacity.

Transworld chair Ramesh Ramakrishnan said: “This is a momentous occasion for Transworld and a reflection of our faith in DP World, Jafza and the UAE.

“This mega distribution centre will be a landmark for Transworld, symbolising our growth and expansion over the last five decades. It will also complement our foray into the food processing sector.

“We are thankful to Jafza and DP World for facilitating this venture of Transworld and look forward to many more milestones through this partnership as we continue serving our customers.”

Construction of the warehouse is set to commence early next year, with an anticipated completion date by 2025.

DP World GCC CEO and managing director Abdullah Bin Damithan said: “We are delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with Transworld Group by partnering on this project.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to providing state-of-the-art solutions that cater to the diverse needs of our clients and foster business growth in Jafza, while solidifying our position as a leader in the logistics sector.”
