The factory will be built, operated, and maintained by TPREL.

October 30 2023

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and Indian stainless-steel manufacturer Mukand have entered into a power delivery agreement (PDA) for a 43.75MW AC group captive solar project in Maharashtra, India.

The facility is situated in the town of Jamkhed and is expected to produce 99.82 million stainless steel units per year and offset more than 54,687 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The plant’s goal is to meet Mukand’s increasing energy needs, as well as contribute to greener steel manufacturing procedures and production in the country.

The group captive solar power facility will be built, operated, and maintained by TPREL.

The project is scheduled for completion in March next year.

TPREL CEO Ashish Khanna said: “The installation of this group captive project is in line with our commitment to provide clean and sustainable energy solutions to our C&I [commercial and industrial] consumers, especially in the energy-intensive sectors.

“It will help to enhance renewable energy capacity and reduce carbon emissions in the country. Through this partnership we are forging a sustainable energy path for Mukand, a Bajaj Group company.”

Mukand president Shashibhushan Upadhyay added: “This partnership shall contribute to our mission of sourcing clean energy for our manufacturing operation and support us in meeting our climate change commitments.”

South-East Asia Construction Market Dynamics

Per GlobalData analysis, the South-East Asia construction industry in 2023 is dominated by Indonesia, though the country will see a slowdown compared to 2022 due to elevated building material prices, weak commercial property demand, high interest rates and a softening of external demand. The construction industry in the Philippines is estimated to register a AAGR of 7.2% between 2024 and 2027, supported by the government’s focus on the development of the country’s rail and road transport and energy infrastructure.
