Morrison Construction Building Central has celebrated a milestone in the construction of the Health Innovation Hub (HiH) project in Glasgow, UK, with a topping-out event.
Dignitaries from the project's partner organisations attended the ceremony.
The life science facility, which is being developed for Kadans Science Partner, is a collaborative effort with The Living Laboratory, a partnership comprising the University of Glasgow, Scottish Enterprise, and Glasgow City Council.
Morrison Construction was appointed to the project in 2021 and commenced construction earlier this year.
Upon completion, the innovation hub will offer 87,000ft² of flexible laboratory and office space that can accommodate up to 450 individuals.
The facilities, starting from 1,700ft², are designed to cater to life sciences businesses of various scales.
Morrison Construction Building Central managing director David Ewing said: “We are making good progress on what will be a fantastic facility for the healthcare sector within the region.
“We look forward to working with all the stakeholders involved to complete this project and deliver a real landmark for all concerned.”
The first tenant set to move into the hub is the Digital Health Validation Lab, a joint venture between the University of Glasgow and National Health Service (NHS) Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Living Laboratory programme director Dr Ruth McLaughlin said: “With its world-class facilities and vibrant ecosystem that brings together industry, academia, the NHS and the local community, HiH is expected to deliver tangible benefits right here in Govan, while also pioneering solutions to some of the most pressing healthcare challenges faced nationally and globally.”
Earlier this year, Morrison Construction's Building Central unit was awarded a contract to build the Whitecraig Primary School in East Lothian, Scotland.
