Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has approved the first phase of the Top Farm development in Weddington, Nuneaton, UK.

This marks a milestone for the joint venture Develop Warwickshire, which comprises Vistry, Warwickshire Property & Development Group, and Warwickshire County Council.

Top Farm is said to be the largest of the Develop Warwickshire sites.

The first phase of the development will see the construction of 51 new homes, part of a larger plan to build approximately 1,700 residences.

This phase also includes the creation of a northern link road, an access road from the site’s east, and expansive open spaces.

Work is expected to commence on this phase over the mid-year period.

Vistry Group North West Midlands managing director Phil McHugh said: “Vistry Group is delighted to get planning approval to start work on the first 51 homes at Top Farm.

“This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering 2,000 high-quality, affordable homes that enhance communities and meet the diverse housing needs in Warwickshire.”

Each home will be built using modern construction methods and will incorporate features such as electric vehicle charging points and air-source heat pumps.

In addition, the development will include energy-efficient design elements, sustainable urban drainage systems, and landscaped green spaces.

The final community is expected to include a primary and secondary school, multifunctional green infrastructure, a local centre, public open spaces, and new roads.

It will be located adjacent to Weddington to the west and south, and St Nicholas Park to the east.

Develop Warwickshire has committed £2.5bn ($3.19bn) to the project, aiming to provide new homes and job opportunities for the local population.

This comes after Sovereign Network Group appointed Countryside Partnerships, a division of Vistry Group, as the main contractor for the Merrick Place development in Ealing last month.
