Ada Infrastructure, a part of GLP Capital Partner's global data centre platform, has celebrated the ground-breaking of the second building at the Tokyo West 1 campus in Tokyo, Japan.

This move is said to be in response to the growing demand from enterprise and hyperscale customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

The campus is set to include three multistorey buildings, all to be constructed adhering to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification standards, with a total IT load capacity of 31MW.

Buildings one, two, and three are expected to represent 10MW, 10MW, and 11MW loads, respectively.

The design of each data centre on the campus prioritises efficiency and sustainability, noted the company.

The site's electrical and mechanical systems are being installed from day one to support both air-cooling for standard hardware and liquid cooling for high-density AI/machine learning workloads.

GLP Capital Partners Japan president Yoshiyuki Chosa said: “We are pleased to celebrate the ground-breaking of our second building at Tokyo West 1 campus. The success of this project is the result of combining GLP Japan's existing real estate portfolio and core capabilities in acquiring land for development with Ada Infrastructure's team of data centre industry experts.

“We will continue to leverage our expertise, scale and synergies to provide data centre customers with sustainable digital infrastructure.”

The ground-breaking for the Tokyo West 1 campus was first announced in August last year, with the first building of the campus expected to become operational by mid-2025.

With a total floor area of 8,700m², the building is located near IT, telecommunications, and hyperscale companies.
