Swedish construction company Skanska has secured a contract from the municipal company Kreativa Hus Skövde to develop a new office building and an attached parking garage in Skövde, Sweden.

The deal, valued at approximately Skr340m ($30.6m), will be recorded in Skanska's order books for the first quarter of 2025.

The office building, rising to seven storeys, will encompass a gross area of 11,100m².

It will feature 'flexible' and 'space-efficient' premises, with an atrium at its centre that will serve as a natural gathering space.

The project also features an energy-sharing system, allowing the exchange of electricity and cooling between neighbouring buildings.

Additionally, a square will be created in the area currently occupied by a car park.

The parking garage will span four storeys, covering a gross area of 4,500m². It will be constructed alongside the new office building.

A climate-reduced concrete frame will be utilised during construction, with limited use of steel in the building's structure.

Construction is set to begin shortly, with the project expected to be completed in the first half (H1) of 2027.

Skanska Group operates in select markets throughout the Nordics, Europe, and the US and employs a workforce of more than 32,000.

Earlier this month, Skanska secured a $59m contract with the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

The contract includes preconstruction and deconstruction services for phase one of the Science Park and Research Campus Kips Bay project in New York, US.

Last month, the company signed a Skr1.2bn contract with NKT HV Cables for the second phase of construction and installation at NKT’s cable factory in Karlskrona, Sweden.
