Skanska has announced an investment of Nkr750m ($72.99m) in the residential project of Røa X in Oslo, Norway.

The construction contract, valued at Nkr322m, will be added to the company's Nordic order bookings in the fourth quarter (Q4) of this year.

The development plan comprises four buildings with a total of 56 apartments and two commercial sections. To date, 18 out of the 56 apartments have been sold.

Due to the limited building size, almost all apartments will be corner units, receiving light and access from at least two sides.

Situated in Vækerøveien, the buildings have been designed by Lund+Slaatto Architects. They will have large private balconies and terraces with wooden floors and clear glass railings.

The inside of the balcony will have panels and a U-shaped handrail on top of the glass.

The houses will be constructed using steel and concrete for the load-bearing structures while the floor dividers will be made either with concrete slab covering elements or be built on site.

The exteriors of the buildings will have insulated walls that have plasterboard on the inside and either board, brick, or ventilated wooden cladding on the outside.

Sprinkler systems with pop-down fire extinguishing mechanisms will be installed in the apartments.

Construction of Røa X is scheduled to commence in early January 2024, with the completion of the project expected in Q2 2026.

Earlier this month, Skanska was awarded an additional contract for the construction of North Carolina State University’s integrative sciences building in Raleigh, US.
