Skanska has entered into a contract with Nye Veier for the new E6 Berkåk-Vindåsliene motorway project in Trøndelag County, Norway.
This contract has been signed by Skanska as part of a joint venture with Syltern.
The estimated value of Skanska’s share of the contract is Nkr1.3bn, which will be entered into Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for the fourth quarter of this year.
The scope of this contract includes the design and construction of approximately 15km of new E6 road between Berkåk and Vindåsliene.
A major section of the road will be constructed with 2x2 lanes. Additionally, a new junction and link to the current E6 will be created, as well as roughly 15km of local roads, 800m of tunnel, six bridges, two wildlife crossings, and multiple other structures.
The project aims to meet certain climate goals such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than half relative to the climate budget.
It will be certified in accordance with the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREAAM) Infrastructure Whole Team Award level of Very Good.
The E6 Berkåk-Vindåsliene project seeks to improve traffic safety and capacity on the present E6 road south of Trondheim so that the road system promotes regional growth and development.
Detailed engineering will begin soon, and construction work will commence early next year. The road is expected to be finished in mid-2027.
Nye Veier managing director Anette Aanesland said: “The aim of the new E6, which is a central national thoroughfare, is to increase traffic safety, improve the flow of traffic and stimulate growth and development in a large region.
"We are now looking forward to starting the work together with Skanska and Syltern. This section is an important part of the development of the E6 south of Trondheim.”
