Skanska has secured a contract for the Livingston Avenue Bridge replacement project in Albany, New York, US.

The contract, valued at $596m, will be recorded in the company's US order bookings for the second quarter of 2024.

The project includes the construction of a new two-track, vertical-lift railroad bridge over the Hudson River, enhancing transport links between Albany and Rensselaer.

The scope of the Livingston Avenue Bridge replacement project encompasses the construction of control and machinery rooms, the installation of new railroad signals, and the implementation of electrical infrastructure.

The project aims to improve bridge and navigation lighting, realignment, and other features.

Additional rail bridges will also be reconfigured and rehabilitated.

The new bridge is expected to facilitate higher-speed passenger and freight rail services and will offer pedestrians and cyclists a safer and more accessible route across the Hudson River.

The construction work, which began in May this year, is anticipated to reach completion by March 2028.

Separately, Skanska has committed 120m zlotys ($30.51m) to the second phase of the NU Warszawa Wola residential project in Warsaw, Poland.

This phase will see the construction of two buildings, comprising a total of 136 apartments and seven commercial units.

The development will incorporate eco-friendly and smart home systems.

Moreover, the rooftop of one building will be fitted with photovoltaic panels to reduce electricity costs and is set to be certified as Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Very Good.

Construction for this phase is set to begin this month, with completion expected in January 2026.
