Skanska has signed a contract with the Tennessee Department of General Services for the renovation of the Legislative Plaza in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, US.

This $126m project will be included in Skanska's US order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2024.

The project involves a comprehensive office space renovation, reworking the War Memorial Plaza, upgrading the Motlow Tunnel, and modernising elevators, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The plaza, built in 1975, serves as a key location for public events and accommodates government offices and committee rooms for the Tennessee General Assembly.

In addition to its functional role, the plaza is home to significant monuments, including the Civil War Women's Memorial and a tribute to Tennesseans who served in the Korean War.

These features reflect the plaza's dual purpose as both a space for civic activities and a place of historical remembrance.

The renovation work is scheduled to commence in January 2025, with an expected completion date in January 2027.

Skanska recently secured a contract to construct a tram depot for City Transport in Helsinki, Finland.

The project, valued at €252m ($264.79m), is aimed at achieving a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Outstanding certification.

The Helsinki depot, spanning 41,000m², will accommodate approximately 50 trams, providing facilities for maintenance, cleaning, and repair.

Skanska has also been awarded a project in Täby Park, outside Stockholm, Sweden, comprising 156 apartments and 75 parking spaces, valued at around Skr350m.

The project’s construction will begin this month, with occupancy planned in phases from mid-2026 to April 2027.
