Skanska has signed construction and renovation contracts in Norway and Texas, US, with a combined value of over $106m.

The first contract with Sogn og Fjordane Energi involves the construction of the new Øksenelvane power plant in the Bremanger municipality of Norway. It is valued at Nkr434m ($38.59m).

Skanska will construct the plant near the existing facility, which has been operational for over 70 years. This project includes building a new intake, water tunnels, and an underground power station.

The Øksenelvane plant will generate 171GWh annually, enough to power 10,000 households.

Construction is set to commence in April 2025 and conclude by March 2028.

In the US, Skanska has secured a contract, valued at about Skr720m, for renovations to Collin College’s Plano campus in Texas.

The renovation encompasses 19,500m² of the existing building, including a new roof, conversion of classroom and office spaces into labs, mechanical, electrical, and plumping system updates, and expansion of the kitchen, dining, and theatre spaces, along with a new police office.

It also involves refreshing and reconfiguring administration areas, common spaces, and classrooms.

Skanska, which operates across select markets in the Nordics, Europe, and the US, has a history with Collin College, marking this as the fourth campus project for the company.

The work is scheduled to begin in January 2025 and is expected to be completed by August 2026.

Prior to this, Skanska announced two major contracts in the US aimed at enhancing the country's infrastructure.

These include a $450m contract with the Massachusetts Port Authority and a $389m contract in a joint venture with Coffman Specialties for the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority.
