Skanska has appointed Nordic technical installation company Assemblin to oversee the multitechnical installation works of a new research and development (R&D) facility in Lund, Sweden.

The scope of work comprises the design and installation of electrical, power, and lighting systems at the factory, along with heating, water, cooling, and gas technologies.

The assignment carries a value of approximately Skr85m ($8.10m).

Located at the Höjdpunkten 5 property within Lund, Skanska will construct this facility, which spans an area of approximately 24,000m², on behalf of property business Vectura.

The R&D facility will include offices, a laboratory, and a test environment.

Groundwork has already commenced at the site, with construction works expected to be finished in late 2025.

The planning phase is expected to be finished in April next year, following which the installation phase will begin.

Assemblin H&S president and business area manager Andreas Aristiadis said: “We are very pleased with this assignment, with high demands on safety, quality, and redundancy.

"Distinctive for the project are advanced gas systems, which require special expertise. This will be a key installation project in Southern Sweden, and we are looking forward to contributing to this exciting project in close cooperation with our clients and other parties involved.”

In June this year, Skanska was awarded the construction contract for the development of this facility, which is valued at approximately Skr650m.
