Eastern Province Cement Company has awarded a turnkey contract to China-based Sinoma CDI for the construction of its new production line in Saudi Arabia.

The contract is valued at $270.52m and follows the approval of Eastern Province Cement's board of directors. The development was disclosed in a recent filing with the Saudi Exchange.

In March 2023, Eastern Province Cement invited specialised companies to submit bidding proposals for the construction of this cement production line.

Incorporating the latest technology from the cement industry, the production line will have a daily production capacity of 10,000 tons (t) and will be constructed at the company's existing plant in the Khursaniyah region of Saudi Arabia.

The line will replace some of the obsolete production lines at the plant.

The contract encompasses the design, supply, delivery, construction, and installation of the cement production line.

Eastern Province Cement has revealed that the financing details for the project will be disclosed at a later stage, with the formal signing of the contract expected to occur within two months from the award date.

In April 2015, the company revealed its plans to develop a production line with a daily production capacity of 10,000t of clinker in the Najibiyah region of the country.

Eastern Province Cement possesses licenses for limestone exploration in both the Khursaniyah and Najibiya regions.

It produces and promotes cement and clinker while investing in building materials for high-quality products.
