Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden (SBB), a Nordic property company in social infrastructure, is set to commence the construction of a new nursing and care home at Tenstaterrassen in Stockholm, Sweden.

Scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024, the facility will offer 80 beds spread over eight wards and six floors. This development is part of SBB's commitment to sustainability and societal development.

The nursing and care home's location next to Järvafältet provides residents access to nature, recreation, and strong transport links.

SBB Project and Property Development manager Mats Silow said: “We look forward to contributing, together with the tenant Ersta diakoni, to new and much-needed housing for the elderly in Stockholm. Our joint ambition is to create a home-like environment with a design that invites people to socialise both indoors and outdoors.”

The design of the building will be a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality, featuring a brick and wood-panelled facade that complements the surrounding environment while adhering to sustainability standards.

Aiming to provide stimulating and safe environments for older residents, the building will include a roof terrace for walking, gardening, socialising, and enjoying views of the nature reserve.

Indoor amenities will include a swimming pool, gym, and sauna. The strategic placement of common areas such as kitchens and living rooms will ensure accessibility from all apartments.

SBB's building will meet environmental and energy standards, with certification according to Miljöbyggnad 4.0 at the Silver level.

The company's sustainability efforts are in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and the company's Sustainability Vision for 2030. This vision includes becoming climate positive by 2030, reducing energy consumption, increasing the use of renewable energy, and having a climate-adapted property portfolio.

For the construction of this project, SBB has partnered with COBAB through a turnkey contract.
