French multinational Saint-Gobain has agreed to purchase Kilwaughter Minerals, a Northern Irish quarrying and mineral processor.

Kilwaughter is one of the key players in the facade mortars market in the UK and Northern Ireland and the acquisition will strengthen Saint-Gobain's presence and offerings in these regions.

This strategic move aligns with Saint-Gobain's 'Grow & Impact' plan, which focuses on reinforcing the group's leadership and boosting growth through solutions for light and sustainable construction.

The transaction is anticipated to close in the first half (H1) of 2025, contingent upon the fulfilment of customary closing conditions.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by the companies.

Kilwaughter operates a manufacturing facility near Larne in Northern Ireland and offers several brands such as K Rend and K Systems. It focuses on technical expertise and system specification and is supported by approximately 200 employees.

In the fiscal year ending April 2024, Kilwaughter reported revenues of around £50m ($67m).

Kilwaughter Minerals CEO Gary Wilmot said: “We’re excited with the opportunity to join the Saint-Gobain group and continue Kilwaughter’s ambitious growth journey.

“Kilwaughter has a rich company culture and heritage, and our focus remains on delivering a leading customer experience, underpinned by our trusted brands. We look forward to the added synergy that Saint-Gobain will undoubtedly bring and sharing our passion for innovation, quality and excellence.

“We see the alignment of the vision and values between both companies as a strong building block for our teams and customers.”

Upon completion, the company will be integrated into Saint-Gobain's Northern Europe Region.
