Post-LoI, the parties plan to initiate a formal JV to begin the planning process.

Safe & Green Holdings and Soldier On have signed a non-binding letter of intent (LoI) to create a supportive housing community in Oklahoma, US.

The proposed project aims to design, build, and operate an 800-unit community for veterans, first responders, and other members of the US emergency and defence services, including their families.

The development includes an 80,000ft² Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant manufacturing facility to be built in McClean.

This facility will be used to construct the housing units themselves, as well as provide employment opportunities for injured veterans in the manufacturing process.

The first phase will include the manufacturing facility while the second phase will involve the construction of the units.

Safe & Green chairperson and CEO Paul Galvin said: “Both components will be located on a property in McClean, Oklahoma, owned by Safe & Green Development Corporation (SG DevCo), which will act as the landlord for the project, while providing development assistance and oversight of the infrastructure, while partnering on fees, building oversight and ownership.”

After the LoI, the two parties plan to form a formal joint venture (JV) and begin the planning process.

Soldier On is a private non-profit organisation committed to supporting homeless veterans since 1994, offering transitional housing and supportive services.

In 2010, it established the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community, a permanent housing cooperative aimed at transitioning homeless veterans to homeownership.

This housing model is aimed to be replicated on a national scale.
