SSAB Group subsidiary Ruukki Construction has unveiled its new product range, Ruukki LowCarbon, to help users reduce their buildings’ carbon footprint.

The offering has been designed to meet environmental regulations and customer needs for reduced life cycle emissions of constructed buildings.

Ruukki's LowCarbon range’s first product is the Classic LowCarbon roof profile, which is expected to reduce emissions by 70% compared to traditional steel roofing profiles.

The same roofing solutions will be available to customers in Scandinavia under the Plannja Infinity brand.

The new range comprises products made of recycled SSAB Zero steel with a GreenCoat colour-coating derived from biobased sources.

Ruukki prioritises the use of fossil-free energy in production and optimises packaging for fossil-free transport.

The manufacturing process of these products is located in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, and Poland, ensuring proximity to customers.

The Ruukki LowCarbon line is anticipated to expand across all product groups.

Ruukki Construction Roofing head and SVP Jouni Metsämäki said: “We want to take the construction industry towards carbon neutrality. By making sustainable choices, customers can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of their buildings.

“For example, by choosing the Ruukki Classic LowCarbon roof, the customer can reduce the emissions of their new building almost as much as by stopping driving a car for a year.”

Last year, Ruukki Construction unveiled plans to decrease approximately 200 positions within its operations and operating countries.
