The redevelopment is being made as part of WA's A$1.5bn capital works programme.

The Western Australia (WA) Government has announced the advancement of construction works on the Rossmoyne Senior High School redevelopment in Perth, Australia.

The A$39.1m project will provide a set of additional student amenities, comprising a two-storey classroom and library building.

This new library is set to accommodate more students than the school's present facilities.

New science centres, gymnasium changing rooms, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) laboratories will also be built as part of this redevelopment project.

Australia-based architect Bateman Architects designed the project, with Crothers Construction developing it.

WA Education Minister Tony Buti said: “It is wonderful to be here today to see the start of the revitalisation and rejuvenation of Rossmoyne Senior High School.

“This redevelopment is another important step for the future of the school and the local community with new facilities to enable the school to expand and cater for more students.

“It is vitally important to provide students with state-of-the-art learning environments, and the [Roger] Cook government is investing more than [A]$1.5bn to make this happen.”

The Cook government’s A$1.5bn capital works programme in WA aims to improve public education facilities.

The final stage of the project is expected to be completed in late 2025.

Cook said: “The redevelopment of Rossmoyne Senior High School will incorporate an innovative design, seamlessly linking the existing school with this new development.

“This is an exciting project for the entire school community and the new science, STEM and high-tech library facilities will provide students with a modern learning environment to excel and reach their potential.”

First movers have a clear advantage and could be seen as leading metaverse adopters in the construction market

The construction industry has large and complex sites to manage, strict project deadlines, hazardous working conditions, and tight profit margins. It is also under increasing pressure to improve its ESG credentials and digitalize. The three primary use cases for the metaverse in the construction industry are training, building information modeling (BIM) renders, and collaborative creation, though its adoption is still in its infancy.
