Rejlers has been selected by the City of Malmö's Property and Streets Office to spearhead the design for infrastructure reconstruction and expansion in Västra Hamnen, Sweden.

The development is expected to support the continued expansion of the Citadellsfogen district.

The 7ha Citadellsfogen area, positioned as the south-west gateway to Västra Hamnen, is set to transform into a mixed-use district.

It will comprise residential spaces, offices, a preschool, parking facilities, and city-centre activities.

An overhaul of the existing infrastructure is required to accommodate the diverse transportation needs of the district.

Rejlers will be responsible for the design of streets and parks within Citadellsfogen.

This includes preparing construction and tender documents for the remodelling and enlargement of streets, pedestrian and cycle paths, canal spaces, and park areas.

These actions will be in line with the newly approved detailed plan for the locale.

Rejlers Infrastructure Division business unit manager Jimmy Tran said: “We are pleased and proud that the City of Malmö's Property and Street Office has entrusted us with designing the structure of a new district and creating a functional environment for all road users.”

The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.

Earlier this month, Rejlers partnered with the Aas-Jakobsen ViaNova network for the 'New branch Østre linje' project, a segment of the Østfold Line.

Aas-Jakobsen, having entered a contract with Bane NOR, has entrusted Rejlers with the responsibility for the project's electric power design.
