Construction has officially commenced on the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers’ (PICE) new headquarters at V. Luna Extension, Quezon City.  

A ground-breaking ceremony was held to mark the start of the works. It was attended by PICE's national president and the country's Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) senior undersecretary Emil Sadain. 

The event featured the signing of architectural plans and a symbolic lowering of a time capsule containing the building plan.  

Sadain said: “This new headquarters will not only provide a modern space for our members to convene and collaborate but will also be equip[ped] with training venue in support of the professional growth and development of One PICE members.” 

The new PICE building, which will include a seven-storey structure with a one-level basement for parking, is designed to be a mixed-use commercial building.  

It will have a total floor area of more than 4,000m², excluding the roof deck and basement. 

It is intended to serve as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and professional development for civil engineers across the country. 

Construction of the latest project is scheduled to be completed by next year. 

Earlier this month, the DPWH revealed the completion of a domestic hanging steel bridge in Sitio Sinuhot, Cagayan De Oro City.  

It also transformed an old gravel road into a concrete cement pavement in Sitio 2, Barangay Mulawin, Naujan.
