The development comprises civil, structural, and electrical works at the site.

PESTECH Sdn Bhd (PSB), through a joint venture (JV) with Sky High Construction, has accepted the notification of award (NOA) for the Entinggan 275/33kV substation project in Sarawak, Malaysia.

PSB is a wholly owned subsidiary of PESTECH International.

Syarikat SESCO awarded the NOA for the design-and-build contract, which is valued at RM109.97m ($23.55m), with 60% allocated to PSB and 40% to Sky High Construction.

The contract is expected to commence on 26 December 2023, with project completion anticipated within 23 months.

It includes civil, structural, and electrical works, integrating into Sarawak's existing networks.

The company noted that the construction of the Entinggan substation is set to enhance supply reliability and accommodate rapid growth in both organic and industrial loads in Kuching.

The contract is also anticipated to positively impact PSB's revenue, earnings, and net asset per share for the financial years ending 30 September 2024 and 30 September 2025.

Prior to this, PSB secured a RM85m contract from Sarawak Energy Berhad for the Mambong and Entinggan 275kV substation extension project.

PSB was responsible for the design, construction, testing, and commissioning of the project.

The project involved extending the existing Mambong 275/132/33kV substation in Mambong and the Entinggan 275/33kV substation.

It also included the installation of 275kV capacitor bank equipment to enhance power quality in the Kuching electrical network.

Further tasks involved retrofitting the protection system at the Matang 275/33kV substation, linked to the Mambong substation.

IoT market for construction set to grow at a CAGR of ~16% by 2027

There is a huge opportunity for wearables in the construction industry. Several start-ups operate in this space: for example, Proxxi protects users from getting electrocuted, and Plinx uses proximity sensors for social distancing. Wearables can also improve communication channels between field and desk workers. As digitalization develops, wearables will become synonymous with construction work.
