British housebuilder Persimmon Homes has secured planning permission from Cornwall Council for its 'Newquay' residential development in Cornwall, UK.
The company will build 187 housing units for local residents on the land south of the A392 road in Trevemper.
Furthermore, it will provide 56 houses to a local housing association provider, which will aid in meeting Cornwall’s acute housing needs.
The proposed project will feature one, two, and three-storey units, along with a range of properties comprising one-bedroom apartment units to five-bedroom homes.
Following a request from residents, Persimmon’s designs will also include extensive public open space, a play area, renovations to the site's infrastructure, and a new 3m-wide strategic footpath and cycle route.
Persimmon will pay about £565,000 to Cornwall Council for local initiatives via the Community Infrastructure Levy.

“Through the construction of 187 quality new homes for local people, this site will deliver substantial social and economic benefits, playing an important role in the growth and aspirations of Newquay as one of Cornwall’s key settlements.
“We have also listened to the request for a new strategic footpath and cycleway, and we’re delighted to have gone above and beyond on this asset for the local community.”
