Persimmon Homes South East has secured approval from Wealden District Council for a new housing development in Stone Cross, East Sussex, UK.

The project will see the development of 90 new residences, including starter homes alongside larger family homes.

Of the total 90 homes, 32 will be made accessible through a Housing Association partner for shared ownership or affordable rent.

The amphitheatre is set to be a distinctive feature of the property that will create an open space for the neighbourhood.

The development will include walking paths and trails and will plant 116 new trees around the site.

Furthermore, Persimmon Homes South East will make an investment of more than £800,000 ($1.013m) in community infrastructure and local public services.

The developer will also build a Sustainable Urban Drainage System on site, backed by Southern Water and East Sussex County Council as the Lead Local Flood Authority.

Persimmon Homes South East planning director Kerri Bland said: “Our scheme at Stone Cross is a high-quality, green and attractive site and I’m delighted that we have been able to secure approval for these plans.

“Wealden is an important area for us, and it was pleasing to see councillors recognise the efforts we made to produce a design that reflects the character of Stone Cross.

“These 90 new homes, including 32 homes for affordable rent or shared ownership, will help to meet the housing needs of the community and we’re very much looking forward to getting on site early next year.”

Earlier this month, Persimmon Homes South West announced its plans for a new site at Langford Bridge, near Newton Abbot, England, UK.

The plan includes the development of 40 new sustainable houses.
