Peel Ports Group has appointed contractors for its new framework valued at up to £750m ($968.9m), which will encompass a range of construction works across its UK- and Republic of Ireland-based sites.

The framework, which has a potential duration of up to eight years, has enlisted 18 contractors across three distinct lots.

Lot 1, General Construction, includes an array of works such as drainage, road and car park construction, earthworks, ground remediation, and warehouse maintenance.

Lot 2, Marine Construction, focuses on specialist marine works such as piling, quay walls, and lock maintenance.

The third lot, Major Projects, is a national lot for large-scale developments.

The construction and engineering companies appointed for the framework comprise A E Yates, C Spencer, Charles Brand, Erith Contractors, Glencar, GPS Marine & Civil Services, J Murphy & Sons, Jackson Framework, John Graham Construction, and more.

These regional and national suppliers will support projects across Peel Ports Group's portfolio, which includes the Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, London Medway, Great Yarmouth, and Dublin Port.

The framework aims to bolster the delivery of Peel Ports' long-term construction pipeline, which includes both improvements to existing infrastructure and new developments.

Peel Ports Group has emphasised the importance of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in the tender process, alongside local community engagement.

The contractors are expected to contribute to Peel Ports' objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

Peel Ports Group port services managing director Lewis McIntyre said: “We’re pleased to announce the 18 contractors who have been selected to carry out this important work across our ports in the UK and Ireland.

“This rigorous procurement process has allowed us to select the very best regional and national partners, who will support the ongoing development of our network of logistics hubs.

“We look forward to working closely with them on the design and build of various exciting projects in the months and years ahead, all of which are the result of substantial investment in the future of our operations.”

In December 2024, Peel Ports Clydeport received planning permission for a £150m upgrade of the Hunterston marine yard in Ayrshire, Scotland.

This project is set to play a crucial role in advancing offshore wind power along the UK's west coast.
