Nordic community builder Peab has been awarded a contract valued at Skr109m ($10.81m) to construct a new mobility building in Sundsvall, Sweden.

The eight-storey structure, being built for Urban Hub, will provide parking and electric vehicle charging stations.

Urban Hub CEO Christofer Kraft said: “I'm pleased to be able to work with Sundsvall Municipality and Peab to create a hub for parking and mobility in Norra Kajen.

“The mobility building will be prepared for a sustainable future and is right in line with our overall vision of a vibrant, modern and fossil-free society.”

The project, which is a turnkey contract, will commence in late 2024 and is set for completion by early 2026.

The company will register the project in the third quarter of 2024.

Construction will take place over an existing service tunnel, which is connected to a wastewater treatment plant, necessitating careful consideration and high standards for the groundwork.

Peab region manager Fredrik Timan said: “I think it’s great that Peab will be part of the urban development in this wonderful area of Norra Kajen in Sundsvall.

“Working together with Urban Hub with our local workforce to create a modern mobility building fits in well with our work to improve everyday life where we live and work.”

The latest contract comes after Peab was selected for the redevelopment of Hall 259, an old welding and boiler workshop in Malmö, Sweden, last month.

This turnkey contract, commissioned by Varvsstaden, was valued at Skr454m.
