Nordic community builder Peab has been contracted for two new construction projects in Sweden.
These projects include the development of a senior living complex in Stenungsund and the reconstruction of the first stage of Ullevi Road in Linköping.
Stenungsund Municipality is the client of the senior living project, which is located at Hasselhöjden.
The estimated value of this turnkey contract is Skr188m ($18m).
This five-storey building will include 104 apartment units and staff quarters.
In addition, the building will have offices and meeting spaces for daytime activities, as well as a roof deck on the fifth floor.
This contract also involves substantial landscaping, including loading zones, parking areas, the outside environment, and a backup power station.
Construction is set to begin immediately, and the project is scheduled to be finished in early 2026.
Peab will include this project in its order bookings for the fourth quarter of this year.
Linköping Municipality has also awarded Peab a contract to reconstruct the first stage of Ullevi Road in Linköping.
The traditional contract is projected to be worth around Skr160m.
Ullevi Road is being reconstructed to make it more accessible and to connect the western and eastern parts of northern Linköping.
The first stage will include the construction of a new bridge over the Stång River, four roundabouts, and a new pedestrian and cycling route. A bird watch tower, a dam, and a row of trees will be placed on each side of the new road.
Linköping municipal council member and Community Building Committee chair Stefan Stein said: “The pedestrian and bicycle path and road will finally tie together Tornby and Mörtlösa, lessen the traffic on Kallerstad Road, and make travelling easier and smoother.”
Construction work is scheduled to start in January 2024 and is set to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
Peab will enter this project in its order bookings for the fourth quarter of this year.
