Peab has secured a turnkey contract worth Skr812m ($77.60m) to construct roads and a railroad to Boden Industrial Park, Sweden.

The company has been commissioned by Polar Structure and Boden Municipality for the project.

Polar Structure investment director Daniel Kronheffer said: “We at Polar Structure are very pleased to be able to contribute together with Peab and Boden Municipality to the development of Boden Industrial Park and H2 Green Steel.

“By improving the infrastructure we are creating the right conditions for sustainable industrial growth and strengthening the region’s role as a hub for green transition.”

The project will include the construction of a railroad that will link Boden Industrial Park to the main line, alongside roads and paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

The railroad will extend from the Swedish Transport Administration's (STA) north-east tracks to the industrial park, curving around to connect with existing rails north of the Sävastklinten operations site.

Peab region manager Hans Boija said: “We’re pleased and proud that Peab has been entrusted with making Boden Industrial Park accessible for future developments.

“Boden and all of northern Sweden are important to Peab for a number of reasons.”

Construction is scheduled to commence in mid-2024, with the project expected to be order-registered by Peab in the second quarter of this year.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of Peab securing a contract for the expansion of the E20 road at Mariestad earlier this month.

The E20 project, also a turnkey contract, was awarded by the STA and is valued at Skr848m.
