Peab has secured a contract, valued at Nkr104m ($9.4m), to construct a new office building in Nørvevika, Ålesund for Norwegian real estate company Kolvika Brygge.
This project marks a significant development for the region, promising to deliver a modern office space with sustainable energy solutions.
The planned office building will span roughly 4,100m² across three floors, including a connected parking garage. A notable feature of the development is its energy-saving heating system, reflecting a growing trend in sustainable construction practices.
The building will serve as a hub for Kolvika Brygge, which has interests in prominent seafood exporters, with both Ocean Supreme and Norwegian Seafood Company set to occupy office space in the new building.
Peab's involvement began with a Phase I contract, which entailed collaborating with the client to develop an optimised product that addressed quality, risks, and uncertainties.
The project has now progressed to Phase II, with the signing of the construction contract, which is a turnkey contract.
Peab Norway district manager Geir Rødseth said: "We've been developing the project together since the spring of 2024 and worked closely together to create a building that will contribute to strengthening local business in the region."
Construction is slated to commence in early 2025, with completion targeted for mid-2026.
This new project will be officially order registered in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Peab, a Nordic community builder with 14,000 employees and net sales of Skr58bn ($5.3bn), is headquartered in Förslöv, Sweden.
The company's Project Development division is committed to creating sustainable urban environments featuring residential, commercial, and public properties while focusing on energy efficiency and climate impact reduction.
Kolvika Brygge board chairman Botholf Stolt-Nielsen said: "This office building will be important for maintaining a strong seafood environment in Ålesund."
In a recent development, Peab has also been awarded a contract worth Skr118m to construct LKAB’s demonstration plant for critical minerals in Luleå, Sweden. This project is set to commence immediately and is expected to be completed in 2026.
