Peab has secured a €19m ($20.67m) contract to construct a pilot platform facility for clean energy in Espoo, Finland.
The contract has been commissioned by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
Peab will be responsible for constructing a two-storey addition to the VTT Bioruukki pilot centre and upgrading the existing building.
The pilot centre serves as an innovation platform for developing biobased products and circular economy solutions.
The centre is said to be one of Europe's largest pilot facilities, offering open access and a blend of pilot-scale process development units and research and development services.
The new space will accommodate research activities for heavy vehicles, motors, hydrogen gas, and batteries.
The gross area of the building will be approximately 5,000m².
Peab Finland region manager Ilkka Laakeristo said: “We’re very pleased Peab has been entrusted with extending this pilot platform facility thereby promoting work on sustainable development.”
Construction is scheduled to commence next month, with completion anticipated in early 2026.
The project will be registered by Peab in the first quarter of this year.
Last month, the company secured a turnkey contract to reconstruct a school in Lund, Sweden.
