OX2 has awarded a turnkey contract worth approximately Skr280m to NCC to build foundations and roads for a wind farm in Ånglarna, Sweden.

The award comes after OX2 sold the wind farm to a European utility last month.

Situated north of Falun, the wind farm is set to have 18 wind turbines, each with a height of 220m and be able to produce roughly 315GWh-355GWh of power yearly.

NCC will be responsible for road and crane site planning, foundation casting for the wind turbines themselves, distribution station construction, as well as electrical network installation within the farm's vicinity.

Previously, NCC has built wind farms for OX2 in Orrberget near Borlänge and Åndberg near Sveg.

Additionally, it has undertaken construction activities at nearby wind farms including Svartnäs, Mombyåsen, and Jädraås.

OX2 Sweden Construction head Stefan Karlsson said: “It is great to again work with NCC on a construction project as we have worked well together in previous joint projects.”

With a focus on minimising its environmental footprint, NCC will reuse excavated materials to cut down on transportation and thereby its impact on the climate.

NCC Infrastructure head Kenneth Nilsson added: “We are pleased with the continued confidence shown in us by OX2 and will utilise the valuable experience gained from earlier joint projects in the vicinity.

“The wind farm will be constructed in inaccessible terrain and technical tools, such as drones, will be used to gather precise data to make production more cost-efficient and the work environment even safer.”

NCC will register the order in its Infrastructure business segment for the fourth quarter of this year.

The deal follows NCC’s selection to construct a new district courthouse in Tönsberg, Norway, on 11 October.
