PruittHealth has announced the commencement of a $385.5m expansion of a living community, The Oaks at Whitaker Glen, in Raleigh, North Carolina, US.
This multiphased development will integrate upscale living, residential spaces, retail stores, and healthcare services for older residents within a single campus.
Residents of this Continuing Care Retirement Community will have access to assisted living, skilled nursing, home health, therapy, and more as their needs evolve.
The project's scope includes the addition of 246 independent-living units, 82 assisted-living apartments, and a new 106-bed skilled nursing centre spread across an approximately 20-acre campus.
It will also include amenities such as a resort-style pool, water aerobics, deep-water treading, a spa, a poolside grill, a restaurant, a fitness centre, an indoor pool, pickleball and bocce ball courts, and more.
Additional facilities will include a coffee shop, a retail pharmacy, physician services, and outpatient rehabilitative therapy services.
PruittHealth chair and CEO Neil Pruitt Jr said: “This reimagining of The Oaks at Whitaker Glen has been in the works for some time, and we’ve received tremendous support and interest from the community.
“We have a very unique offering that will provide active seniors a chance to experience destination, resort living. We intend to use this campus as a blueprint for similar communities we plan to build in the Southeast [US].”
This announcement follows PruittHealth's recent plans to establish a new, advanced skilled nursing and rehabilitation centre in Pensacola, Florida, earlier this year.
The facility with 120 beds will provide patients with accommodations and amenities during their recovery from injury or illness.
